Our 700th liker

apples-from-somerset

I painted these apples last year in the kitchen of a small holiday house in my home town of Taunton, Somerset – the home of cider. It was in Autumn in the week of my birthday. Big sweet smelling apples were falling off the trees with heavy thumps scattering throughout the garden in ripe abundance. I collected some and made this card to remember the moment.

Ever since the picture has been propped up on my window sill at home in Coogee.

But this week I decided to bring it in to work, maybe to sell, maybe not, it just needed a change of scene at least.

Then yesterday I noticed our Facebook page was on 699 likers. I spontaneously decided to offer the picture up to the 700th. Moments later Jacqueline Fink pressed her like button.

When I told her she’d won my apple picture this is what she said –

‘I think this little artwork always had my name on it .. As it just so happens, I am one of the great great great granddaughters of Granny Smith as in Granny Smith Apples. That all makes me a bit partial to them. An appropriate fit don’t you think?’

‘ .. Let’s call it synchronicity. Is that how you spell it? A full circle moment as Oprah would say.’

It made my day giving away my art to a new friend.
