Workshop projects
Julie, Kate and Trudie are the ladies in charge of the workshops. Julie is really good at creating nice textiles and Kate is pretty damn good at making interiors look lovely. Trudie’s thing is merchandising and she has excellent attention to detail. Together we are running a small range of workshops for small groups of people.
The three things these workshops have in common is this -
• They work around the core creative beliefs that Julie has developed having owned and designed for cloth for the past 17 years.
• They require a keen sense of curiosity and a willingness to have a go. It is not about the skill so much as the attitude.
• They are small relaxed projects that feed straight into our creative souls. Because we all have one and they really do need feeding.
Project Lucky dip
This workshop embraces colour, composition, the element of surprise, a slice of intuition and the joy of creative flow. We work with fabric and basic hand sewing techniques.
Project Lucky Dip is good if you -
• like the idea of being led along a creative path that is full of the unexpected.
• have a hankering for making something but don’t know where to start.
• don’t have enough space or the right stuff or just can’t seem to find the time.
Project Lucky Dip is very very cloth. In these 3 hour classes Julie our designer, demonstrates her own creative process, working with odds and ends of fabric scraps sewing them together, mostly by hand to form a patchworked block that could be used to upholster a dining chair, make a cushion, an artwork, lampshade, table runner….the list really is endless.
The process is simple, pleasing, nice and easy. And the outcome will be a small and lovely patchwork block of fabric that could be your start of something big.
3 hrs $200 includes basic materials and a nice glass of wine. Six people maximum. Beginners welcome.
